New Hope Arts and Crafts Festival

Today, I actually escaped from my dungeon studio!

Past the wall of corn

towards the Delaware River...

to a place where people live a bit differently

and ghostly spirits are everywhere (you may want to click on the last 2 images above for larger photos - this shop was fabulous and I cannot remember the name!!).

Ghost trains

and even Skelly trains!

My destination was a very unique town in Bucks County that goes by the name of New Hope.  It's a 20 minute drive from our front door and has long been a favorite haunt of ours.  The only place I can think of that reminds me of New Hope is Key West.  Both are hauntingly mysterious, old and full of ghosts but also full of life, a bit seedy, great bars and restaurants, lots of bikers and starving artists and old money.  A very eclectic place that seem to be made for people watching.  And of course, New Hope really is haunted.

(And, BTW, I met Rod Stewart while shopping there in the 80s on New Years Eve Day.  Seriously - he was shopping with a woman companion in the Four Seasons Mall and was very nice.  I'll save this story for another time.)

The weather was cool and the sun was being a bit stubborn but the art was amazing!

While I was browsing, I was very fortunate to meet two women artists who make dolls and toys and also have Etsy shops.  Yes, they create, travel and do juried shows, have Etsy shops and maintain inventory - I'm inspired!   Their items were GORGEOUS!

Allow me to introduce you to Jennifer and Diane.  If you like art dolls and fantasy, you should really visit Jennifer's Etsy shop, Willow Spirit Gallery: http://www.willowspirit.etsy.com/   I fell in love with her witches!!  Here's Jennifer's booth - these ladies were so absorbed in her dolls, I couldn't get a  clear shot but even with this, you can see all of the color and whimsy.

Diane makes wonderful plush monsters and baby apparel!  Perhaps she'll inspire my Monster in the Closet Art Doll Swap piece?  She even had monster Candy Corn!  Diane is on the road right now and her shop is in vaca mode however if you visit, you can leave an e-mail to be alerted upon her return.  You can visit Diane's shop, Cutesy but not Cutesy here: http://www.dkoss2.etsy.com/  and below is a shot of her booth.

Tonight the Corn Walk of Horror opens so if you don't hear from me in a few days, it may mean the goblins carried me back to New Hope!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Lisa

Hehee, how fun! I've heard of New Hope, maybe I'll have to drive over from the big city--and, maybe stop by your house, Lisa? ;)

The lovely doll making ladies are fabulous! I'm sure it was a great time!
